Today in Geeky History by Wesley and Jenny is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License.
This license covers all audio, text, and art on the site that we created. It doesn’t cover, for example, the picture of Einstein or the little buttons from other sites, but it does cover the lava lamp picture (That’s the actual lava lamp that we light before every show by the way) and our “official” green-monitor logo.
What does this mean to you?
It means you can re-use anything on this site, including any of our audio shows, with the following restrictions:
- You must say that you got it from us. It’s only fair, really. We put a lot of work into the show and are letting you use it for free. Let people know where you got it originally.
- You may not profit off of it. The record companies call it stealing. Smarter people call it infringing on copyright. We call it just being mean. We’re not making money off of our work. Why should you?
- You must license what you do in the same way. This is the fun one. If you use OUR stuff to make YOUR stuff, you have to let other people use YOUR stuff to make THEIR stuff.
So, what could you do with the content that we’d love to see? How about:
- Remix it! Make us a dance remix. That would rock.
- Put it to video. Don’t forget to upload it to YouTube
- Put the audio on Pirate Bay, or Usenet, or anywhere. Why not? I’ve actually thought of doing this myself.
- Essentially, anything you CAN’T do with that Rhianna song you got from iTunes, you CAN do with our show. Except profit from it or take full credit for making it, because that’s mean.
