Most of the drive ins eventually adapted a 'charge by the carload' policy. We also used to tune into the drive in's radio station when driving past. I think my brother still has one of those speakers from the old drive in back home (forgot to take it out of the window when exiting. OOPS!)

I believe the first movie I was present for in a drive-in was Taxi Driver. According to my parents I slept through it. It was probably for the best.

I have never ridden in a trunk to get into a drive-in for free, but I have used my trunk so others could do so. I have also watched a movie from a hillside with a radio tuned into the theater's station to watch the movie for free. In retrospect, I should have coughed up the $5 but it's a fun memory.

The first movie I can remember seeing (Star Wars) was at the drive-in. Probably not the best way to see a movie, but it certainly was a lot cheaper. I used to take my wife to the 5 screen drive-in here, before they turned it into a shopping center. Good times.

(Yes, I edited your post. Volcanicast is explicit, but this show is officially rated PG and we actually are trying to keep it as G as possible)

Actually, Jenny and I pick the topics together. The topics must almost always pass both of us to make it into the show, and this one in particular did in fact do just that. Baseball itself may not be "geeky" but a poem you loved as a kid but totally forgot about for years counts - to us - as geeky. Remember, the topics here are ones that a geek would find interesting. As a Geek, I found this one interesting and so did Jenny.

There have been topics that we've considered and dropped, and others that we've considered and kept, even though they were not strictly "geeky." Amusingly, this was not one of them; this one we were both on board from the start.

say, is this 'geeky history' or 'stuff Wes is into' history? Baseball is the national pass time, and can hardly be considered 'geeky'... Especially being that you never mentioned any of the many Warner brother's cartoons based on the poem. You'll never get a lame wiki page devoted to this podcast at this rate.

Why thank you. The Einstein logo was totally my idea, though Jenny did the art. I can't draw a wet paper bag to draw my way out of.

You know, now that you say that I remember it, but it totally failed to even enter my brain when doing the research for the topic.

Egg on face, indeed! Good catch.

You don't happen to know what the "80" stands for in "80586" do you? :)

Dudes, you totally failed to mention that while they were so busy worrying about how to market the thing, they forgot to make the CPU do math right.

The Pentium Floating Point Division (FDIV) bug, which amounted to egg on Intel's face more than anything (only appoximately 1 per 9 billion divisions would be affected), was nonetheless a humorous bit of related geeky history.
